Ring Cut Details
1 . Machine Cut Ring Details
Most
of our rings are machine cut. We stock thousands of pounds of
machine cut rings at any given time in all materials and most
sizes. A machine cut ring is made by an industrial machine that
shears the ring. The cut looks like the following picture.
The pro's of machine cut rings are as follows:
- - Machine Cut Rings are stocked
in large quantities and can ship immediately. It is
virtually impossible for a company to handcut a hauberks worth
of rings for you and have them shipped in 24 hours. We ship hundreds
of pounds every day.
-
- - Machine Cut Rings have cuts
comparable to shear cut. The cut is significantly better
than pinch cut and will not catch hair as easily. This is important
for clothing items.
-
- - Machine Cut Rings have inner
diameters closer to the listed ID than hand cut rings. This is
because the machine can counteract the spring back on harder
materials.
The Following is a close up picture of a Saw Cut ring and a Machine cut ring. Both are bright aluminum 14 ga 1/4"
2. Cut-To-Order, Hand-Cut and Saw-Cut
Ring Details
If an item is listed cut-to-order, hand-cut
or saw-cut it means we manually cut the rings for you from a coil.
The type of cut depends on the ring, as does the amount of time
required to prepare them.
Cut-To-Order refers to rings for which there
is an option of upgrading to saw cut. These rings will be hand-cut
with snips unless you use the saw cut feature listed by the item.
Cuts
The following is a listing of the type of
cut and cutters used on different types of rings. If you are purchasing
coils, you can use this list to find the suggested cutter for
your coil.

Preparation Times
Please refer to the note "Usually Ships
in X Days" to determine how much time making this item will
add to the processing of your order. The time for hand-cutting
and saw-cutting is not cumulative. If you have an item in your
order listed to take 3-4 days and other items that ships in less
time the order should ship in 3-4 business days.
Your entire order will be held until these
items are made. You will not be emailed this information. You
must make the best decision for your situation based on the information
listed in the cart. If you would like to order one of these
items but would not like your order held, you must place 2 orders.
Place one order for the items that meet your preferred processing
time and a second order for the items that will be delayed. Please
email if you have inadvertently delayed your order with
one of these items and would like 2 part shipping. The cost of
splitting the order is basically the 1st pound rate for the preferred
shipping type. The additional shipping ranges from about $5 to
$15 depending on the preferred shipping service. Since all information
is provided up front, we will not be held responsible for missed
project deadlines when ordering one of these items.
RUSH - rush was designed for hand-cut and saw-cut products.
If you rush a hand-cut or saw-cut ring it should ship within the
time specified for the in-stock items. Rush can make your order
ship the next day instead of in a week.
Large Quantities - large quantities of hand-cut or saw-cut rings
may take longer than the listed preparation time. The length of
the delay depends on the specific ring and the quantity. Some
hand-cut rings ordered in large quantities will be machine cut.
The ring will then have to be placed in the production schedule.
A rush on large quantities may bump it up in the productions schedule.
Staying under the weights in the following table does not guarantee
that we will not need extra time to prepare your item. The reason
is that another customer may have ordered the same item and the
2 will be prepared together. We do not guarantee preparation times
for this type of item.
What is a large quantity? This depends
on the exact ring.
